BBM-ers, You Are Doing It Wrong.

I seriously wonder what is the purpose of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) nowadays. I don’t know how many times have I said this (not in this blog), but I effing hate people who broadcast messages ALMOST EVERYDAY! And it’s not like the message is important anyway. It’s just some nonsense like some super lame jokes, or even: “Good morning, Shalom! God Bless You”. The last one is true story. My dad has a friend who keeps on sending that very same message EVERY SINGLE MORNING!! My godddd…. These people seriously have nothing else to do, izzit?

And my dad being my dad, he replies to that message once every two weeks with “Amen.”.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

But really, the function of BBM itself has changed from a medium to keep in touch with your family and friends to a place where you sell stuffs, promoting your products, to even creating a group to sell your stuffs. By all means, please use Facebook or Twitter for your business!

Don’t get me wrong. I am okay with people saying greetings everyday ONLY IF it’s in a BBM group, NOT sent to individuals. Unless you wanna talk to me personally, then please don’t waste 10 seconds of your time sending me a morning greeting if you don’t even bother to follow up the conversation afterwards.

And apparently, a writer from JakartaGlobe feels my sentiment, too. Here’s an article written by him:

Stop Sending Inane Broadcasts on Blackberry!

I have been getting a lot of broadcast messages on my Blackberry lately, and to be frank, it’s aggravating, especially when the message is irrelevant, or worse, lame. I completely understand that the BB Messenger was expressly created to send messages, but the question is: What kind of message should you send using the broadcast service?

The thing about broadcast messages is that they are essentially mass messages. For instance, I have friends who like to send information on automotive sales. They surely know I don’t have my own car and thus I don’t usually modify automobiles. Then, why would anyone send me this “Velg for Mercedes Benz on sale, type S-Class W140 — Ring 16 — PCD 5×112 [blah blah blah]. Contact me for more information.” I don’t even know what those numbers mean.

There are also people who like to broadcast encouraging messages, complete with cute emoticons, like: “Just because it’s raining, doesn’t mean you can’t own the day today. :)”

Why would anyone broadcast anything like that? It’s a waste of the three seconds it takes to open it, and chances are most people will just delete it, and immediately. Plus, because this person is not Oprah, the message really doesn’t do anything, I guarantee you. Who needs that?

Words of encouragement should be directed at the person who needs them, like someone who just lost a loved one, someone who just went through a break-up, someone who just failed the SAT’s, etc. But not, I repeat NOT, to everyone! In fact, sending the “encouragement” to a specific someone would make the message sound more sincere and personalized. Or, why not send positive admirations on Twitter or Facebook? At least the post won’t make your phone vibrate and make people think that an important, urgent message is coming through.

I also get messages that tell a terribly sad story about someone who died of cancer, about a child who was separated from their parents or a woman who died in an accident while taking her son to school. It’s fine to broadcast these only if, at the end of the story, the message offers ways to help the family. But if it only says “broadcast this message if you love your mother and father,” DO NOT SEND!

Excuse me? If I love my parents, I would work my butt off to do well and make them happy. I would be a good person and buy them a big house with a huge garden. But what I wouldn’t do is broadcast messages to show people I love them.

So, unless your life is in danger (like if a pack of zombies is chasing you), or unless you are promoting a charity, or maybe letting people know there’s a natural disaster happening and your message would save lives, please, don’t use the service. It’s super annoying.

Use Twitter and Facebook instead. Don’t make people have to open their phones because of an inane broadcast message saying, “the day is going to be fine.” I hate to break it to you, but you are not God.

And folks from RIM, will you guys ever create a set up that can block the broadcast message? I think you guys should.

LOL! I totally agree with him, man! I mean, come on, unless it’s an important information, you don’t need to let all of your BBM contacts know about it.

I had this friend who kept on broadcasting those kind of messages almost everyday (sometimes more than once a day) to the point that I deleted him from my contact list. Sounds snobbish? Sorry, I just couldn’t be bothered with his messages about the things he sells or some encouragement dedicated to everyone on his contact list or some lame jokes, which TBH, are really not funny at all.

When we said just send it to our office, we meant it that way!

Just blew up at this very annoying company who has been calling us for months and is always asking the same dumb question!!! I usually still layan them and tried to be nice, but today, I got so fed up and I just blew up and scolded them right there and then.

“Why are you so mean?” o.O

Wait, before you judge anything, let me tell you a story of how this typical company/organization/whatever-not-like-i-care behave:

Every time they call our office (and I mean EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME), they always ask for the foreign managers/directors, and when we asked “What is it regarding about?”, they always say “oh yes, ma’am, it’s regarding a document that we want to send him/her”.

The first time I received such call, I thought it may be real. But then after I put down the phone, my colleagues told me that they have been calling for quite some time. (They can call you minimum 2 times every month).

Okay, after I knew about it, I was just acting cool and entertaining their requests and was like “whatever”.

And yes, they kept on calling and calling and calling and calling, and NO single document was ever sent to our office, although they have got the names of the Director/Manager. What nonsense!

So today, precisely like half an hour ago, they called again and THEY ASKED THE FREAKING SAME QUESTIONS ALL OVER AGAIN! They said that they need to send a document only to foreign managers, how many foreign managers do we have here in the company. When I mentioned 3, she kept on insisting to know the names of the other 2 (she has known 1 of them already). I told her that she can just send the document to our office and we will distribute it to the 3 of them. But she kept on insisting and insisting and insisting to know their names. Her tone was not so professional either.

So that’s it. I got my last straw, and I told her straight away:

“Listen, I’m sorry to say this but you guys have been calling us again and again and again for so many times and you have never even send any documents here. So please stop calling us! Thank you!!”

…and I slam down the phone.

And just fyi, they also called our office YESTERDAY. My colleague has been quite sarcastic to them yesterday, and yet they still have the guts to call again TODAY.

And my friends should know that I’m not the kind of person who gets angry easily.

They never learn from our reaction.

Taxi oh taxi…

Following my ranting about the disappointing taxi last night, guess which taxi finally arrived to fetch me?

Yes, you’re right. The second one!

So where the hell did the first-taxi-which-is-supposed-to-fetch-me went to??!!

A few minutes before the taxi came, I sent in a complaint through the taxi company’s website. Heck, it was my first time ever to complaint such thing! Lol :p

When I get into the taxi, I told the driver that the supposedly-fetch-me taxi did not come and I had been waiting for half an hour. He told me to just send some complaints to the company. Hahahaha…

Anyway, I don’t care why the taxi didn’t come or what la. Just that I guess Blue Bird needs to emphasize more and more to the drivers that they have to be responsible with the jobs they were given to.

A taxi company with a good reputation disappoints me for the very first time

WTF! I’ve ordered a taxi to go home at freaking 8pm earlier on, and it HAS NOT ARRIVED UNTIL NOW WTF! And it’s a Blue Bird’s for god’s sake!!

What the hell is wrong la? There’s no freaking traffic jam out there! wtf wtf wtf

I’ve called the Blue Bird company twice just now and they said they will send another one cos the supposed-to-come one is not arrived yet! WTH la. Never before Blue Bird disappoint me, but this time, I’m sorry, it is SO SO SO disappointing. What if I have to go somewhere urgent and the taxi did not come in a freaking 1.5 hour?!!!

Sorry for the vulgar words, but I just have to release it somehow…

Pheww~
