Twantea Ate

I’m officially 28 (ermm… slightly more than a month ago)! Really?! o.O It feels as ifΒ I wrote my 27th birthday post just a little while ago!

I took a 2-day self-declared birthday leave and so I had a really good long weekend! Here are some of my birthday highlights:

1. Went for Japanese buffet lunch at Kuishin Bo!

The first time I went to Kuishin Bo was… 3 years ago. We were planning to go to Smoke House initially, but he decided for this restaurant instead at the last minute.

Sashimiiiiii! Definitely the first thing I happily picked onto my plate! πŸ˜€

Bite-sized cakes – most of them are yummy! I remember when I went to Kuishin Bo with Rani and Irma, we actually took plates (notice I said ‘plates’) of dessert the moment we stepped inside the restaurant. Hahahaha!

Ok, end of food pictures. Was too hungry and couldn’t be bothered to snap so much.

Btw, this post has been delayed for more than a month and my hair is not even like this anymore. I’m back to short bob! πŸ˜€

2. Super cute birthday gifts!Β

I swear I turned into an over-excited 5-year-old kiddo the moment I saw “Instant Mini Camera Building Kit”! Look at that hand-drawn tag and the tako on the box ^^

Lego Polaroid

The end product! SO CUTE!!! πŸ˜€

This custom LEGOΒ kit was ordered from According to the mister, he used to create LEGO building guides for custom objects and he started to actually prepare the kits and sell them afterwards. He’s not associated with LEGO in any way, though.

He does have some really cute creations up for sale. Do check out his website! πŸ™‚

Some stickers were actually included to be pasted on the “polaroid” photo “paper” (see the Marilyn Monroe one in the above picture), however he wanted to put our picture on it instead (that’s the whole purpose of him buying this set actually!), so there you go!

3. Went to see the “100 Doraemon Secret Gadgets Expo” in Johor Bahru!Β

This deserves a separate post! Coming soon πŸ˜€

4. First time receiving a birthday gift from a client

I was truly surprised when the client came into the office for a meeting (with me) and she suddenly handed me this!

So sweet of her!! πŸ™‚

5. Surprise from the circus penguins!

It actually happened 1 day before as I would be on leave on the day itself.

I was just sitting at my desk, killing the keyboard away (my colleagues said that at the pace and force I’m typing, my keyboard would have been dead sooner or later) doing work, all of them suddenly barged in through the back door (my desk was near the back door) singing Happy Birthday, bringing Corica apple strudel!

Apparently Ms. Peanut had just came back to Singapore (she was away for honeymoon in Perth) and she brought this back!! πŸ˜€

My last encounter with Corica was when I went to Perth 2 years ago, so this was a really pleasant surprise!! =9

6. FINALLY had my 2 years worth of birthday dinner

A lot of Indonesians have this habit of treating their loved ones for a birthday meal (instead of the other way around here in Singapore). My cousins and I adhere to this tradition as well. I did not actually treat them for a birthday meal last year coz I spent my birthday itself with the mister and I got so busy afterwards that the year has gone by to 2014 hahahaha!

So I didn’t want to miss it out again this year and we finally had it just last Friday at Akashi Restaurant in Paragon! Used to patronize this outlet quite a few times before and the food did not disappoint πŸ˜€

And they gave me…

S$150 Courts gift card!

I was quite puzzled initially… “Why would they give me Courts gift card?” (coz normally we’ll give each other shopping vouchers, e.g. CapitaMalls, Takashimaya, etc. if the gift was to be vouchers).

Then I suddenly thought, “Hmm… Maybe the mister has something to do with this.”

And yes, I was right. Hahaha! So apparently one of them asked him on what have I been wanting to buy lately and he mentioned air fryer, bread maker, musical tickets (Cats, Beauty and the Beast). Hahahahaha!! No wonder they gave me Courts gift card. But I like it though, not complaining! πŸ˜€

Okay, so that’s some snippets of me turning 28! 2 more years before I hit the big 3! o.O

Oh my… time does fly too fast sometimes…

Twenty Seven

I actually wrote this post on the night of my birthday, but I got caught up with things and keep on forgetting to put up the photos. >.<

Really? I’m 27 now? O.O

My first birthday wish came from mom and dad via phone. I was already knocked out by 11pm the night before coz I was really tired and it was quite awhile before I was finally awoken up by the call! Naturally my parents were kinda confuse as why have I gone to sleep before 12! Hahaha! πŸ˜€

Actually wait, my first birthday wish was from Mr. Phlegmatic. He sent me a really nice parallax e-card he made himself yesterday! (And today I found out he spent about half a day making it! so touched at the effort leh! T___T). And no, not gonna share how it looks like here #kiamsiap. Hehehe :p

In the morning when Jun arrived at work (I was already there before her), as usual, she asked me ,”How are you?” so I answered her with “I’m good!”. A few seconds later, she shouted, “OMG It’s your birthday today??”

“Uhmm, yes”, I replied.

“Why did you not say anything?!!”

“Hahahahaha! What do you expect me to do? Shouting out loud, “Hey! Today is my birthday!”?”

“Ya! How can you keep quite about this kind of thing?!!”

HAHAHAHA! Damn cute la she! Then she gave me a tight hug and wish me πŸ˜€

In the afternoon, Jacob suddenly called me to go for a short meeting with him and ‘the head of S@O’. As we reached the place, he said she is still on a call, so we walked back. Then he told me to come into a closed area behind my workstation for a ‘discussion’.

Took off my shoes, walked in, and… SURPRISE! My boss and colleagues were there with a cake and wine! πŸ˜€

Photo 11 copy

When else can you get a log cake for birthday?Β πŸ˜€

I was actually very occupied at work today that I actually missed lunch (but didn’t feel hungry at all) and did not eat anything except the birthday cake and wine. Hahaha!

So not long before I was done with work, Mr. Phlegmatic told me he was already at the lobby downstairs. Once I am done, I went down and tadaaaaa! He got a pretty bouquet of flower for me! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Pretty flowers in different shades of pink (and purple)! πŸ˜€

Totally didn’t expect him to get me flowers! Thank you, dearest! And he dressed up nicely because it was my day. Hehehehehehehe. See, you look great in shirt!

So anyway, off we went for dinner, but before that, we stopped by at The Central to meet Juju because she wanted to hand me a gift:

Such a pretty teapot + cup!! And she made the cute yellow star herself (with love, she said)! My tuwins is awesome πŸ˜€

(A lil background story: Apparently she bought this for my birthday gift last year but didn’t get to give it to me. So she kept it for 1 whole year! Hahaha)

We went for dinner at Sugisawa! I went there for my birthday last year as well! Hahahahaha! Decided to go back because I was craving for some good Japanese food and Mr. Phlegmatic has never been there too!

After the satisfying dinner, we went for a walk along Robertson Quay coz we were too full! And then went to Laurent Bernard Chocolatier afterwards for their Melting Chocolate Cake! =9

How to lose weight, you tell me?

We had to call it an early night because I had to catch up with some work (and I actually stayed up til 2:30am), but it was a happy day (of course! every birthday is a happy day for me!) and now I don’t know whether I should be happy or sad that I’m one step closer to the big 3.

It was such an awesome day! ❀

(Just realised I grinned so widely in the above photo. Hahaha)

Twenty Six

So yesterday was my birthday! Happy birthday to me! *like damn loner like that wtf*

The day was great! No rain at all. Only veeerrryy slightly drizzling in the morning, but after that, sunshine throughout the day! It’s funny considering that it’s been pouring cats and dogs every single day for the past few weeks. Means…. God must have loved me very much ya? πŸ˜€

My first present was from Aunt Lia (of course lah. We’re staying at the same house. hahaha). It’s a very nice card with one of the cutest pressies I’ve ever received:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it.

Background: Both of us have bought tickets for J.Lo’s “Dance Again” concert in Dec. I was about to pay her back that day (we purchased it using her credit card) but she made it as my birthday present instead. We haven’t taken the tix from the agent yet, so she wrote it on a paper. Hahahahahaha!

So THANK YOU, Aunt Lia and Aunt Iing! πŸ˜€

My day started with breakfast with Sher at a coffee shop near our office. After we came back to office, she messaged me on Skype after awhile:

Sorry if it’s not funny to you. Our ‘haha point’ are very low and both of us are easily amused. So yea. Only this madam will actually put a present IN the toilet LOL!! For the record, she was sitting upstairs and I was downstairs, hence the saying “I heard u opening the door.” (there’s a door leading to the toilet from my work area). Hahahahahaha!

But I forgot to take a pic of the present on the rack! T___T So this is my best effort photoshopping it to illustrate it:

Lazy to photoshop it on the mirror side. Ahahahahahaha!! More or less is like that.

The grey kitty actually refers to the Littered with Books’ (the book shop 23 steps away from our office where she got my present from) logo.

So what’s inside?

The answer is a very nice canvas tote! πŸ˜€

Love the paw prints on the sides. It adds the unique touch to it and being a person who loves books and meaows, this is purrrrfecto!

Eh now that I think of it, it actually covers my interests at once: bag, book, cat! THANK YOU, Madam Tay!! πŸ˜€

Then the birthday cake cutting tradition at the office! Chocolate cake from Barcook bakery this time!! It’s yummy and so chocolatey! Thanks for choosing it, Wilson! And lucky for Sher as she wasn’t in the office that time. She won’t eat this one lah. This woman hates chocolate. Hahahaha!

And after office hour, it’s cousins’ dinner time!! πŸ˜€

I chose Sugisawa, a small Japanese restaurant at Riverside View (Robertson Quay). I’ve been there once and I like the freshness and juiciness of their sashimi and sushi. The sushi are like those in Japan, with a little rice and big topping, unlike most of the sushi restaurants in Asia (that I know of) where the amount of rice compete with the size of the topping (= both are of the same size).

So food was good (except for the Tori Karaage – Not crispy and too oily), however, service sucks max! I shall spare the story for another day as I want this to be a happy post.

My Ebi Fry Bento. So huge! o.O Definitely couldn’t finish this. I’ve heard about how big the bentos here are, but I didn’t know it would be THAT big.

The yummy Sashimi platter. Okay, only 3 of us ate it (Mee, Steph jie-jie, and myself).

Thennnn it was cake time!! This time it’s a raspberry cake from Paris Baguette! Mannnn it’s been long since I last had anything from Paris Baguette. I used to buy their bread and cakes quite often when I was in Beijing.

Yea I know, the message is so -__________- For non bahasa speaker, it says “Happy Birthday, Grandma!’ -____________- no idea why that nickname kinda stick with me T___________T *pinch Mee and Na*

Anywayyyy, the cake is nice! Not too sweet and coupled with the sourness of raspberries, it tastes just right! =9

Unfortunately we were already too full by then, so most of us couldn’t finish our slices of cakes.

Group photos!!

*I hate my hair in this picture! *

Donny kor-kor actually asked a Japanese man who was obviously rushing to helped us with the picture. Coz all of the waiters/tresses look so busy, he stopped him when he was about to walked into the restaurant (we were at the outdoor seating area). He was in a rush, holding his jacket and briefcase and all. Quite funny to see his expression when he asked him to help us. Hahahahahaha! Arigato, uncle!

Gift from the cousinz! Ok lah, actually they asked me which model of hair dryer do I want, the night before my birthday. Hahahaha!! A week before, Steph jie-jie asked me what do I want for my birthday. I told her I wanted a Chanel 2.55 lambskin black. So she said, “Okay, we’ll get you the catalog. The real item will come later, ok?”. LOL!

So the night before (19th Nov), Murni jie called me and asked what is the hair dryer brand with ion thingy that I mentioned last time (I did mention once when we were in HKG. Cos I was eyeing the above model and was thinking to buy if it’s much cheaper there. Turns out it’s only like SGD 28 cheaper, so I didn’t get it). So I mentioned Panasonic. Then she asked me back, “so which one do you want?”. Hahahahahaha! πŸ˜€

THANK YOU, cousinz!! :* πŸ˜€

Now I can haz silky smooth hair everyday~

Just a picture of the gifts I received (minus the J.Lo’s “ticket”. Hahahahaha) πŸ˜€

And so, that marks the end of my 26th birthday! Happiness throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who called, texted, Whatsapp-ed, BBM-ed, tweeted, and wished me both in person and on Facebook! All of you made my day!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Random things lately via iPhone and Instagram

Yup. I’ve finally gotten myself an iPhone 4S (in white) and so far I’m loving it a lot! Gonna sell my iPod Touch and go back to the good old pink iPod Nano.

So today’s post will be filled with pictures taken by my iPhone. They are in their original state fresh out of the iPhone and some have been beautified with Instagram (the squarish ones). The quality of iPhone 4s’ camera is very good for a smartphone. I love the HDR function on it. The differences on some pictures are really obvious. I’ll show some examples later on.

There will be 60 pictures in this post. Let’s start!

PAUL in Ngee Ann City! I kinda felt deja vu when I first saw it because I just came back from Paris that time and I went to Paul there.

Long Live Double Tape!

Happy Birthday, Double Tape! My beloved orangey office is turning 3 today!

And no, no fancy celebration and all that jazz. Just a simple birthday dinner of a very yummy “Birthday Mee” πŸ™‚

*Wahh next year’s birthday must be really special…20-10-2010 maaa :D*

Mia (our beloved Big Boss) said that this is actually the first time they celebrate DT’s birthday, because one, none of them (I mean the early members of DT) remember when was DT really established on. Two, October 20 (2006) was actually the date Mia signed the paper that formed the company (PT Cakrawala Media Baru). It took them quite some time to came up with “Double Tape” (they even came up with Koran Kita-Kita and OUCH! Magazine beforehand), and eventually, when they came up with it, none of them remembered the date. Lol

Anyway, it’s not that important lah. The most important thing is DT has grown from a very small company consisted of 3 people (or was it 7?) to 16 people at the moment. Moreover, the company has developed soooo much within these 3 years, and I can safely say all of us can be proud with it.

Yes, you may never heard of us (we are not one of the Top Agencies just yet, but wait and see! ), but as small as we may be, we are actually BIG! πŸ™‚

Yes, you may not find our company’s signboard outside the building we are residing now, but once you walked up to the third floor, you’ll enter a homey place with lots of cheeriness, smiles, laughter, fun, and everything you’ve ever dreamed of in a company πŸ˜€

Happy Birthday, Double Tape! Keep on improving, always keep the joyfulness you’ve always had, and hopefully you will be residing in a new building (DT’s self-owned, of course ;)) on your fifth birthday πŸ™‚
