If only all universities have this kind of course…

Beatles degree launched

(Tuesday March 03, 2009 06:01 PM)

Students are to be given the chance to study a Master of Arts degree in The Beatles at a university in Liverpool.

The first-ever qualification of its kind has been announced on the website of the city’s Hope University.

“The Beatles, Popular Music & Society” consists of four 12-week taught modules and a dissertation, confirmed Mike Brocken.

The institution’s senior lecturer in popular music said it was about time such serious academy was introduced on The Fab Four.

“Forty years on from their break-up, now is the right time and Liverpool is the right place to study The Beatles“, he explained.

“This MA is expected to attract a great deal of attention, not just locally but nationally and we have already had enquiries from abroad, particularly the United States.”

Excuse me, sir, I’d like to register, please! 😀

Get to know myself better? Izzit true?

I was so bo liao in the office with like, technically nothing to do. I’ve done my job of the day I guess (setting up accounts for the magazine on Myspace, Multiply, and Blogspot. I know I know, how you wished your job is like mine, eh? LOL :p). So I took this quiz and here’s the result:

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You’re a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you’ll be set for life.

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don’t succeed. Don’t give up when you haven’t yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Blogging in printing room

I’m blogging in the printing room of my office…right after I stuffed myself with lunch.

Well, I got around 30 minutes to go until the end of my lunch break, and the pantry is just full of people, so I couldn’t sit there and watch some gossips. Lol. Using internet is a way to spend lunch hour.
So, what should I say? This week is passing by so quickly, and in a blink of an eye *poof* it will be 24th December!!! :D:D
What’s so special about 24th December, you ask?
Christmas Eve la, duh?!
*I guess I asked such a dumb question eh? *
The correct answer is……*drum rolls*
I’m going to KL on 24th December!!! *jumping around happily!!*  :D:D:D
Finally I can see my dumb fat bf! LMAO! :p
I’ll be staying in KL from 24th-27th Dec, then on 27th evening, I’m gonna fly off to KK to join my parents and the family’s best friend. We are going to Kinabalu! Wheeee~
….But that means moreeeee photos and story to blog about…and I haven’t even write about lotsa stuffs that had happened recently -__________-
Exactly a week until 24th December…..

No TV! :(

My family is TV-less now. Cos we are using ASTRO, and ASTRO Malaysia has cut off the contract with PT Direct Vision Indonesia, the operator company for Astro in Indonesia (Astro Nusantara). Arrghhh means I am missing my Lipstick Jungle, Ugly Betty, Reaper, House, HBO, Star Movies, AXN, Cinemax, Discovery Travel and Living, ……… T___T

The main problem? money la of course. Although I’m not sure what is the REAL problem inside there. Internal problem. Not my business. Lol :p

Haiz..hopefully they will extend the contract le. It’s so silent downstairs there without any TV. Can’t watch DVD there also, cos daddy forgotten to connect a cable to the hi-fi system or something la. Still can watch DVDs in parents’ room tho. Lol

Now only my house-maid is able to watch TV since the TV in the kitchen is Astro-less…

I had my HSK (汉语水平考试 – Hanyu Shuping Kaoshi) test today. For those who don’t know, it’s some kind like TOEFL for Chinese language.

I had it for free as I am in the HSK class in school. If normal class, we have to pay RMB250 if we wanna go for it. My classmates and I actually wouldn’t go for it if we had to pay, but since we got it for free, so why not? LOL xp

So kiam siap eh? No la, it’s because it’s not our main purpose. It’s not like we need HSK to apply for work or to apply in uni (unless you are applying for China’s local uni). Well, ok, maybe if I have a good HSK result, companies will consider me more? Hahaha

The test was held in BLCU (北京语言大学). All I can say is…the listening part is the most difficult!Although the voice is much clearer than the usual listening class at school, but there are a lot of new words we do not know. Not only us, the 初级班 students who said they are difficult, even the 中级班 students also find them difficult. Those who have taken the test on May this year said this one is more difficult than that.

I didn’t do any preparation before hand, anyway. LOL. Teachers do gave us some HSK exercises, but it can’t even be considered enough. Only Reading (阅读) and Listening (听力) teacher who gave us quite a lot…

The result will be out in a month’s time.

I’m supposed to sleep now, yet I’m blogging…

Afong and her 2 girl friends are coming down to Beijing on Tuesday. Can’t wait 🙂

Oh, and mid-term exams starts tomorrow. 听力(listening) and 口语 (speaking) will be the first 2 subjects I’ll face tomorrow. Followed by 阅读 (reading) on Tuesday, and 汉语 (mandarin) on Wednesday. After that will be 3 days holiday (due to Labor day. Hey, It’s supposed to be a week holiday next week – my cousin in Guang Zhou is having her holiday now, and Afong as well, that’s why she’s coming down to Beijing).

My exams were supposed to be last week, but they pushed it to next week -_-“

And after that 3 days holiday, the ‘real’ holiday is coming. I’m going to Jiang Xi (江西)
with school. One of the places we’re gonna visit is the famous Yellow Mountain (黄山)

Off to sleep. Wish me luck! 😀
